Small overlap front: driver-side
Rating applies to 2015-18 models built after July 2015
Tested vehicle: 2015 Jeep Renegade Sport 4-door 4wd
The Jeep Renegade was introduced in the 2015 model year. Beginning with 2015 models built after July 2015, the vehicle's front-end structure and front door hinges were modified to improve occupant protection in small overlap frontal crashes. At the same time, the computer software was modified to optimize frontal airbag and seat belt pretensioner impact sensing. (Information about when a specific vehicle was manufactured is on the certification label typically affixed to the car on the driver door or adjacent B-pillar.)

Driver restraints and dummy kinematics
The dummy’s head contacted the frontal airbag but moved too far to the left side, leaving the head vulnerable to contact with forward structure. Additionally, the seat belt allowed excessive forward excursion of the dummy’s head and torso. The side curtain airbag deployed and has sufficient forward coverage to protect the head from contact with side structure and outside objects. The side torso airbag also deployed. |

Action shot taken during the small overlap frontal crash test.

The dummy's position in relation to the door frame, steering wheel, and instrument panel after the crash test indicates that the driver's survival space was maintained reasonably well.

The dummy’s head contacted the frontal airbag but then moved off to the left and into the gap between the frontal and side curtain airbags.

The driver's space was maintained reasonably well, and risk of injuries to the dummy's legs and feet was low.
Moderate overlap front: original test

Tested vehicle: 2015 Jeep Renegade Latitude 4-door 4wd
The Jeep Renegade was introduced in the 2015 model year. Beginning with 2015 models built after July 2015, the vehicle's computer software was modified to optimize frontal airbag and seat belt pretensioner impact sensing, primarily for the small overlap frontal test mode, but also to a certain extent for the moderate overlap mode. (Information about when a specific vehicle was manufactured is on the certification label typically affixed to the car on the driver door or adjacent B-pillar.)
Because the test vehicle was manufactured before the software change, the airbag computer was reprogrammed by a Fiat Chrysler engineer before the test to perform in the same manner as later production vehicles.

Action shot taken during the moderate overlap frontal crash test.

The dummy's position in relation to the steering wheel and instrument panel after the crash test indicates that the driver's survival space was maintained very well.

Smeared greasepaint shows where the driver dummy's head was protected from hitting hard structures during rebound by the side curtain airbag.

The driver knee airbag deployed to protect the dummy's knees and lower legs, but forces on the right foot were just high enough to indicate the possibility of injuries.

Distance at which headlights provide at least 5 lux illumination: |
Low beams
On the straightaway, visibility was inadequate on both sides of the road. On curves, visibility was inadequate in all 4 tests.
The low beams never exceeded glare limits.
High beams
On the straightaway, visibility was inadequate on both sides of the road. On curves, visibility was fair on the gradual right curve and inadequate on the sharp right and both left curves.
