Moderate overlap front: original test
Rating applies to 2012-14 models
Tested vehicle: 2012 Kia Sedona LX
The Kia Sedona was redesigned for the 2006 model year. Beginning with 2012 models, the front seat lap/shoulder belts were modified to improve occupant protection in frontal crashes. Moderate overlap frontal ratings are assigned by the Institute based on a test conducted by Hyundai. However, because there were no significant front structural upgrades, the structural rating of the current model is based on both Hyundai's test and an earlier Institute test of a 2006 model.
There were no 2013 models, but the Sedona became available again with no significant changes for the 2014 model year.
