Driver restraints and dummy kinematics Dummy movement wasn't well controlled. The driver seat came loose on its tracks and moved forward 8.5 inches on the right side, where the safety belt is anchored, and 3 inches on the left side. Both legs jammed against the instrument panel. The right knee hit the ignition key, producing a gash in the vinyl "skin" of the dummy at its knee. |

Action shot taken during the frontal offset crash test.

Structural performance in the offset test was acceptable, but injury measures taken from the instrumented driver dummy during the crash were poor.

The dummy's knees jammed against the instrument panel, and there was a gash in the vinyl "skin" at the right knee.
