Moderate overlap front: original test

Rating applies to 2013-14 models

Tested vehicle: 2013 Scion XD 4-door

The Scion xD was introduced in the 2008 model year. Beginning with 2012 models, modifications were made to the front seat belts to improve occupant protection in frontal crashes. Beginning with 2013 models, further modifications were made, including the addition of seat cushion airbags to the driver and front passenger seats.

Moderate overlap frontal ratings are assigned by the Institute based on a test of a 2013 model Scion xD conducted by Toyota. Because the structure was not changed, the structure rating is based on this test and earlier tests of the 2008 and 2012 models of the car.
