Moderate overlap front: original test

Rating applies to 2007-13 models

Tested vehicle: 2008 Suzuki SX4 4-door

The Suzuki SX4 sedan was introduced in the 2008 model year. The moderate overlap frontal crash test ratings also apply to the station wagon (5-door) versions of the SX4, which were introduced in the 2007 model year. The SX4 was discontinued after the 2013 model year.

Dummy movement was reasonably well controlled. During rebound, the dummy's head leaned partway out the open side window and hit the top and rear portions of the window frame.

Action shot taken during the frontal offset crash test.

The dummy's position in relation to the steering wheel and instrument panel after the crash test indicates that the driver's survival space was maintained very well.

Action shot taken during rebound shows the dummy's head leaning partway out the open side window.

Intrusion into the driver's space was minimal, and all leg and foot injury measures were low.

About the original moderate overlap front test

Side: original test

Rating applies to 2007-13 models

Tested vehicle: 2008 Suzuki SX4 4-door with standard front and rear head curtain airbags and standard front seat-mounted torso airbags

The Suzuki SX4 sedan was introduced in the 2008 model year. The side impact crash test ratings also apply to the station wagon (5-door) versions of the SX4, which were introduced in the 2007 model year. The SX4 was discontinued after the 2013 model year.

View of the vehicle after the crash with doors removed, showing the side airbags and damage to the occupant compartment.

Smeared greasepaint shows where the driver dummy's head was protected from being hit by hard structures by the side curtain airbag.

Smeared greasepaint shows where the rear passenger dummy’s head was protected by the side airbag.
