Driver restraints and dummy kinematics Dummy movement wasn't well controlled. During rebound, the dummy's head leaned leftward, through the open window, and hit the B-pillar. There was too much upward movement of the steering wheel. |
Action shot taken during the frontal offset crash test.
There was too much upward movement of the steering wheel, which compromised restraint system performance. Otherwise, the driver's survival space was maintained reasonably well.
Head restraints can be positioned optimally in relation to an average-size male. In addition, side airbags are available. Both are pluses.
Smeared greasepaint indicates where the dummy's head hit the B-pillar during the offset test. However, head acceleration was low.
