Small overlap front
The small overlap front evaluation consists of a driver-side and a passenger-side component. If the results of the two evaluations differ, then the combined small overlap rating is equal to the lower rating.

The rear passenger dummy's head remained a safe distance from the front seatback.
Rear passenger dummy injury values indicate a moderate risk of injury to the head or neck and chest. The dummy's head also contacted the head restraint hard during rebound. During the crash, the shoulder belt remained in an ideal position on the dummy’s chest.
The rear passenger dummy's lap belt remained in the ideal position on the pelvis.

Tested vehicle: 2024 Kia Carnival LX 4-door
The Kia Carnival was introduced in the 2022 model year, replacing the Sedona nameplate in the Kia lineup.
Two tests of the Carnival were conducted by the Institute. During the first test, the left second-row captain's chair became detached from the floorpan, causing both the seat and the rear passenger dummy to tip inboard and rearward, coming to rest on their sides in the rear cargo area. While this seat separation did not appear to exacerbate any injury measures recorded by the rear dummy, such separations should not occur.
The rear seat detachment led Kia to modify the rear left and right seat rails to prevent this occurrence with models built after August 2023, and Kia has implemented a product improvement campaign to apply the same fix to models built earlier. (Information about when a specific vehicle was manufactured is on the certification label typically affixed to the car on the driver door or adjacent B-pillar.)
In the second test conducted by the Institute on a vehicle with the modifications, the rear seat did not become detached from the floorpan. Ratings from the second test are shown below.

Smeared greasepaint shows where the driver dummy's head was protected from being hit by hard structures by the side airbags.
Smeared greasepaint shows where the rear passenger dummy's head was protected by the side airbag but forces from the intruding rear door were high enough to indicate an elevated risk of injury to the chest.

Low beams
On the straightaway, visibility was good on both sides of the road. On curves, visibility was good in all 4 tests.
The low beams never exceeded glare limits.
High beams
On the straightaway, visibility was good on the right side of the road and fair on the left side. On curves, visibility was good on both right curves and fair on both left curves.
High-beam assist compensates for some limitations of this vehicle's low beams on the straightaway and on the gradual left curve.
